Hanging from loops does not support the shape or the waistband.
Lay the kilt down on a clean flat surface and fold the under apron over the pleated area. Fold in the edge with the strap. Fold the over apron over the under apron ensuring the waistband is at same level for the hanger to grip the three layers.
Cedar wood moth repellent rings are preferred to the camphor mothballs and are deemed effective.
Store in a sealed plastic garment bag with the cedar wood moth repellent rings to protect it from moths and dust and store hanging up freely.

48 hours in the freezer in its plastic bag will kill any eggs or larvae. After you take it out, just rehang it.
A careful steam clean will also do the job.
